	At the present stage the ecobuild shanghai 2006 consists of the following concrete building projects in various parts of Shanghai:

	pujiang intelligence valley





	profile
	developer	Pengchen Group (subsidiary of Pengxin Group)
	location	Pujiang Town, Minhang District, Shanghai
	total area	1,5 sqkm
	general introduction	On an area of ca. 1,5 sqkm the developer plans an "Intelligence Valley", an industrial park consisting solely of R&D and office facilities in an ecological surrounding and only with energy efficient buildings.

	special characteristics	The “double egg”-shaped office building, to be used by the developer himself, is the first one in this industrial park and shall demonstrate the different technologies to be used in the other buildings to be built over the next years.

	general introduction	The eastern part of the isle of Chongming is going to be developed into an ecological tourist area.

	general introduction	This building shall act as a demonstration project for ecological building solutions as well as a platform for German companies and architects. The center will offer office space for designers, training facilities, conference rooms, exhibition space, etc.

	special characteristics	The center has a very attractive location in a public park surrounded by water. As construction hasn’t yet started, the building won’t be finished before November 2006 and shown instead as a construction site.

	tongji wenyuan renovation project

	location	Tongji University, Siping Road Campus, Shanghai
	general introduction	The Wen Yuan Building on the campus of Tongji University had been constructed in the early 1950s in “modern style” (Bauhaus style). The building had been used by the Department of Building Engineering until end of 2005. It shall be re-conditioned for the needs of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning until mid 2007. The restoration shall result in an innovative building which has a strong demonstrative aura of future-oriented technologies.

	description	The focus lays on a substantial improvement of the building envelope (thermal insulation and damp protection), the adaptation of the building technology to the climate, an implementation of efficient energy supply as well as the use of renewable energies. All these measures shall be adopted by cautiously dealing with the structure of the building, its construction and the historic materials.

	special characteristics	The integrated restoration of the building (enlisted heritage) matching energy and comfort conditions will be implemented as national pilot scheme. The demands of the future user to the floor plan, the thermal, visual and acoustical comfort as well as the objectives for the targeted energy standards are determined in the very beginning of the project.

	hongkou renovation project

	general introduction	The multifunctional building was built at the beginning of the 1980’s. It is a 5-story-building, about 17m high. It occupies an area of more than 700 sqm,construction area is about 2900 sqm.

	description	The building is a 240 thick brick structure. 20mm mortared cement wet plasters were used on both interior and exterior walls. Exterior walls are with wall tiles decoratet. Exterior walls of the service center of the ground floor is with stone decoratet. Exterior windows are single glazed steel-framed windows.

	Asklepios: Facing the health challenge	We’re not just talking about that: patient care is in the center of all our efforts. Making medical future reality today is the major aim of the Asklepios Clinic Group. This means to open the access to good medical treatments at all levels of population and age.

		Asklepios is one of Germany’s largest operated clinic enterprises, with some 100 facilities, including 72 clinics and more than 33,000 employees and an annual turnover of approximately 2 billion euros. In the United States Asklepios operates with its sister company Pacific Health Corp. The Asklepios Group covers virtually the entire range of inpatient services: from emergency to basic care, from regular and priority care to nearly all kinds of specializations like child heart surgery.

		Modern treatment needs efficient medical processes and a high speed communication. So we put all our knowledge of the last decades in our latest project and we constructed the new hospital based on the needs of modern medical treatment and ecological building. Still knowing that this is still not enough to face the great future challenges we were looking for partners to make communication work. We found them in Intel and Microsoft. Together we realized the global reference center for IT utilization in hospital.

		The first “future hospital” is still reality in Germany. We hope to realize and adapt it to the chinese needs in Shanghai with the big support of the responsible chinese authorities and the city of Hamburg and its mayor.
