The main objective
of ecobuild
shanghai 2006 is to
pave the way for a sustainable urban
development in China. As Shanghai
has always been regarded as a model
for the rest of China, successful
developments here are likely to spread
to other parts of the country. |
| |
|
| |
ecobuild
shanghai 2006 aims
at promoting the concept of ecological
building in Shanghai through: |
| |
- raising awareness towards ecological
building concepts and technologies
- paving the way for German environmental
and building products as well
as services
|
| |
|
| |
why? |
| |
|
| |
In a context
of growing concern over energy shortages
and rising oil prices, the Chinese
government has set goals to foster
energy efficiency. With a booming
construction sector, China has a high
potential to save energy in buildings,
which account for half of the total
energy consumed. Also standards exist
for energy efficiency in construction
since 1986, their effective implementation
is taking place now. |
| |
|
| |
what? |
| |
|
| |
ecobuild,
a cooperation project between the
cities of Hamburg and Shanghai, is
an awareness raising campaign
resulting in an exhibition of buildings
projects, showcasing innovative
techniques and technologies on various
building types in several districts
of Shanghai. |
| |
|
| |
how? |
| |
|
| |
ecobuild
consists of a year long communication
campaign around the topics of ecological
building, running in parallel to the
construction of model projects. |
| |
|
| |
Several sites in
various Shanghai districts have been
selected to demonstrate energy efficient,
environmentally friendly technologies
and concepts through demonstration
projects. The buildings are designed
to save 75% of energy compared to
the average consumption in Shanghai.
The fitting shall meet the highest
technology and quality standards.
Innovative water and wastewater infrastructure
will be integrated. This includes
water recycling, fertilizer recycling,
energy efficiency and recovery in
Circular-Material-Flow-Systems. These
systems are designed to use renewable
energy. They reduce the emission of
greenhouse gases as well as the emissions
of eutrophic substances on a very
high level. The final goal is zero
pollution. The Chinese developers
of those projects benefit from technical
assistance from German experts in
terms of design, quality control,
training, monitoring, evaluation and
certification.
After the completion
of the buildings in November 2006,
professionals, technicians, academics,
politics, and the general public will
have the opportunity during the 4
weeks long open doors to visit the
model units and experience the ecological
building concepts. |
